I lied to the public to protect my career and I regret it deeply

I am writing to admit that there were a number of posts that I wrote in September purporting to say that I was still in love with my ex-wife; this was done because I was trying to protect my professional reputation. The truth is, my ex and I have been emotionally separated for over three years and physically separated nearly as long. We decided that we were divorcing a couple of years ago, but I hid that just to protect my career. I regret not being honest and ask that I be forgiven. Again, the marriage was long over, but foolishly, I tried to protect my career, and I am sorry to have perpetuated a lie over the last few years.
